World Refugee Sunday

Pray with us on World Refugee Sunday – June 19th

Let us stand together in prayer with the more than 80 million people in the world who have been forcibly displaced by war, political oppression, and famine, and pray that our eyes and hearts would be open to our neighbors in need!

As we continue to pray for our partners in the Ukraine:

  • Pray for church leaders and members still caring for their communities in and around the conflict zone. Pray they have the fortitude to provide for the deep spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of their communities. Some cities are almost completely abandoned and so those who are left are the most vulnerable who could not leave before.
  • Pray for all who are separated from family and having to rely on sparse digital communication for updates.
  • Pray aid can continue to come into the country and reach those in need.

As we continue to pray for our partners in Lebanon:

  • Pray for the Lebanese population, 80% of whom have been plunged into poverty in the past two years.
  • Pray that global assistance will not wane, especially since Russia and the Ukraine can no longer export wheat and other critical products to Lebanon and Syria.
  • Pray for the Lebanese churches and organizations, like our partners at the Lebanese Society for Education and Social Development, that continue to minister sacrificially to the Syrian and other refugees in their midst.

As we continue to pray for our partners in our communities:

  • Pray that as a church we would respond to the plight of refugees, and determine how we will demonstrate God’s love to them.
  • Pray that we would share our resources with people who have lost everything.
  • Pray that our global concern would result in local engagement with organizations that are helping refugees to resettle in our communities.

Are you looking for a way to engage practically? There are opportunities to volunteer in all the resettlement areas in Virginia, and we can help you find out what is available in your area. For example, ReEstablish Richmond is a partner in Central Virginia, and they are hosting “Multicultural Fest: Imagine 2022” on June 4th. If you would like to volunteer, you can find out more here: World Refugee Day — ReEstablish Richmond
