A Letter of Gratitude and Hope to Our Supporters
Dear Friends and Supporters,
We warmly greet you and extend our deepest gratitude for your faithful support of Centre Source de Lumière throughout the years.
Today, rather than presenting financial reports or statistics, we would like to share something far more meaningful: the lives that have been transformed through your generosity from 2011 to 2026.
Haiti has faced many challenges during these years—political instability, violence, poverty, economic hardship, and social uncertainty. In the midst of these difficulties, your support has provided vulnerable children with safety, education, guidance, hope, and the opportunity to build a different future.
Before sharing some of the successes made possible through your partnership, we would like to tell you about two children who were unable to remain in the program until its completion.
One young man left the Center before completing his education. Later, he was recruited by armed gangs in the Martissant area. Yet even today, he regularly contacts us, expressing his desire to leave that life behind. Despite the difficult path he has taken, he still remembers the values, principles, and hope that were planted in his heart during his time at Centre Source de Lumière.
The first young woman who left the Center became pregnant at an early age before establishing a stable family life. She had only completed primary school. Her story reminds us of the many risks and challenges that vulnerable children face when they are left without the support, protection, and opportunities they need.
These two stories lead us to an important question:
How many other children might have experienced the same fate if Centre Source de Lumière had not been there for them?
Thankfully, there are many stories of hope.

- 15 have successfully completed their secondary education.
- All 15 have received technical or vocational training.
- 7 are currently employed and earning income to support themselves.
- 8 are seeking opportunities to continue their education at the university level.
- 3 now serve at the Center itself as primary and secondary school teachers, helping to shape the next generation.
These achievements are not merely numbers. They represent young lives redirected toward purpose, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
Today, the need remains as great as ever.
Although children graduate and leave the program, new children continue to arrive. Often, before one child leaves, another child in desperate need is brought to our attention. The realities of poverty, family breakdown, violence, and instability continue to affect countless children in our community.
At present, 34 children are living at Centre Source de Lumière. Ideally, we would be able to welcome 40, 50, or even 60 children. Unfortunately, limited resources and financial constraints require us to restrict enrollment to the number we can responsibly support.
This is why your continued partnership remains so important.
In the coming months, we plan to communicate with you more regularly. Through letters, photographs, and audiovisual materials, we will introduce you to these young people one by one. We want you to see their journeys, their achievements, their dreams, and the remarkable transformation that your support has helped make possible.
Each child has a story. Each story is a testimony to what compassion, commitment, and faith can accomplish when people come together to invest in the lives of others.
Please note that this letter focuses only on the children living at Centre Source de Lumière. In future updates, we look forward to sharing with you the broader impact of the Center’s work and the many services we provide to the community of Delmas 19 and surrounding areas.
On behalf of every child whose life has been touched by your generosity, thank you for believing in this mission. Thank you for standing with us through the years. And thank you for helping us continue to bring hope where hope is often difficult to find.
With sincere gratitude,
Ronel Mesidor
