Is it possible to safely lead a group of youth on a construction site? Can we work with community members and churches to make a difference? While we work diligently, can we also have fun? The answer to these questions is an enthusiastic YES! This year at Impact Mission Camps, we are celebrating that “all things are possible with God” (Mark 10:27). We are excited to offer three camp locations this summer- Mecklenburg, Danville, and Roanoke. Through a week of serving together with other churches at work sites around Virginia, I pray that students and their leaders will explore what it means to thrive in relationship with Jesus Christ.
Completing a construction project at a home with a team of youth, adult leaders, and a crew chief is a large part of what makes Impact Mission Camps a memorable experience, but it isn’t the whole picture. Our morning and nightly meals will be a time for participants to build community with other church groups and staff. Students and their leaders will take part in nightly worship to connect with God. Building relationships and having fun is also an important part of our time together, so we will create space for recreation and rest. It is a busy week for students, but it’s a great opportunity to put their faith into action!
Our goal is for students to not only have an exciting week of mission, worship, and community building, but to also be inspired to live missionally when they return home. I first learned about Impact Mission Camps in 2013 when my church served as a host site for worship, housing, and meals. Since that summer, I’ve served as a church group leader, Bible study author, and preacher at Impact Mission Camps. Serving in youth ministry and campus ministry has helped me see the importance of intergenerational ministry. I’m excited to begin a role as the Impact Mission Camps Coordinator this year because I believe in the importance of mission in our daily walk as Christ followers. I have seen how Impact Mission Camps have partnered with communities and developed lasting relationships. I have seen how youth and adults have worked together to serve homeowners and complete a large goal. I have seen personal transformation in worship. It may seem impossible to some, but I’ve seen the amazing possibilities!
A week of Impact Mission Camp is a fun, challenging opportunity for youth to grow in their faith and leadership skills. Registration is now open, and we would love to have you explore the theme Time to Thrive with us this summer! Check out our website for more information about camp dates and registration at https://impactmissionsmovement.org/youth-missions/what-we-do/. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have and hope to see you this summer!
