Scripture: Psalm 24:1-2

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

Reflection:

The majority of our lives are spent in our homes, neighborhoods, churches, and places of work. With that being the case, it’s easy to get caught up in focusing on our corner of the world and forget about what’s going on outside of our zip code. As you seek to be a person who is missional, remember that God isn’t just God of your town or your family. Our Scripture passage states that the whole “earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.”

As you drive to church this Sunday, pay attention to the houses and businesses you pass along the way. When you watch the news, look at the faces of those who are hurting and in need. As you travel this summer, think about how many people you will come across at rest stops, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

The people, places, and creatures that inhabit our world are important to our Creator. Let’s not be so consumed with self that we forget to engage with and learn from others. It’s a big world, let’s be a part of it.
