As part of our support to churches and partner organizations meeting hunger needs in their communities, those receiving quarterly grants from the World Hunger Funds are asked how we can pray for them. Some of the Hunger Grant recipient prayer requests follow. We will share more next month. If you would like to contribute to this effort by donating to the Hunger Fund, you can do so on our website at this link and choose “World Hunger Fund” from the dropdown menu.
- Healthy Harvest Food Bank: We continue to navigate a “perfect storm” of historically high demand, elevated food prices, and an abruptly reduced food supply. Our procurement abilities for buying food are continuously strained due to inflation and rising costs. Grocery prices rose an additional 2.7% – 3.1% in early 2026, resulting in a total increase of 30% since 2020. Your continued prayers would be appreciated.
- Gospel Community Church, Lynchburg: One current challenge is that food selection at the food bank has been limited, so we are frequently supplementing pantry distributions with purchased items to make sure neighbors receive enough food and a more complete variety of options. Prayer for continued provision, along with connections to food partners or funding for supplemental groceries, would be a meaningful support.
- First Baptist Church, Gate City: Continue to pray for our homeless people, our volunteers and our pastors.
- Fairlawn Baptist Church, Fairlawn: We are currently in search of a new pastor and welcome all prayers that we find the right person. We know God already has it all figured out.
- Community Ministry Center, Fredericksburg: It is not easy to obtain canned goods currently at a discount. Shipments have been cut back at the Regional Food Bank. Praise God, we have stores that continue to provide meat, dairy and some shelf stable food. Financial donations have also dropped. We have many clients and volunteers with numerous health issues who could use prayer.
- Springwood Baptist Church, Buchanan: Pray for us so that we can continue our work in the community of providing food to those people who need extra assistance.
- Tree of Life Ministries, Purcellville: Please pray for funding this quarter to help us meet the needs in our community, as we are currently experiencing a shortfall due to slower than expected summer giving.
