Helene Recovery in Damascus Complete – Help Still Needed in North Carolina

Since Hurricane Helene struck in late September 2024, Impact Disaster Response has been continually responding in the area around Damascus. We have seen dozens of homes restored, eight new homes built, and two other flooding events in the area since the initial storm. As the response is officially ending, many volunteers who have served may be looking for another opportunity to share Christ’s love by helping rebuild homes. We want to encourage you to consider the ongoing rebuild efforts in North Carolina.

Our friends with North Carolina Baptists on Mission are calling for teams to serve the needs of North Carolinians still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Helene. Virginia volunteers can sign up directly on their site at https://baptistsonmission.org/Mission-Projects/By-Mission-Type/Disaster-Relief/Hurricane-Helene. On this main page, click on “get involved”. There is more information on the areas where they have ongoing rebuild projects. Then scroll down to the actual form you should use to submit your personal information. Under the category “church”, please also add a note that you are associated with Virginia Baptists.  You will be responding through North Carolina Baptists and will need to complete their registration to proceed.

Thank you for considering the possibility of assisting other partner agencies to help bring succor and the hope of Christ to those devastated by natural disasters.
