Darkness to Light Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training | Now Scheduling

Scripture teaches us to protect the vulnerable and care for the hurting. One of the ways we are striving to do this is by raising awareness and offering training on how to prevent child sexual abuse in our ministries and churches throughout the BGAV. Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children® program is an evidence-informed, award-winning two- to two-and-a-half-hour training that teaches adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. Through interviews with child sexual abuse survivors, experts, and treatment providers, Stewards of Children® teaches adults practical actions they can take to reduce instances of child sexual abuse in their churches, organizations, families, and communities. We now have a group of trained facilitators who are eager to share this training with you at a reasonable cost for group training (a $200 facilitator fee (to cover their time and travel) for up to 25 individuals who attend in person or a $100 facilitator fee (to cover their time) for up to 25 individuals over Zoom). There are also options for individual training online. We can all be part of turning stories of victimization into stories of hope, healing, and redemption.

Please Note: There is ordinarily a $10 per person cost for the participant workbook that is currently being covered by a grant from the Virginia Department of Health, so we will not be charging that additional fee at this time. It will, likely, be added in the future, so take advantage of the savings and learn ways to protect children today!

If you or anyone in your church wants to complete this training, please click here and complete a brief online form to let us know of your interest. You can also contact Kristen Curtis, our staff member coordinating these trainings, for more information at kristen.curtis@bgav.org or 434-609-0916.
