Tropical Storm Debby – STAND DOWN

Update (August 12, 2024)
After speaking with our partners in other states affected by Tropical Storm Debby, we have learned that the storm did not have the impact initially expected. Virginia has no active requests, and the other state partners have said the damage does not require out of state support. Please pray for those affected, and we are grateful for those who were willing to respond. We will share updates on future storms on social media, via email, and on this site.

Hurricane Debby (now a Tropical Storm) has impacted several Southeastern states in the past week and is moving north toward Virginia. While we have not had specific requests, with the storm path going through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and with flash flooding predicted in parts of Virginia, we are preparing for a significant response. We are asking all Disaster Volunteers to share their availability in the coming weeks so we can plan the response. We will update this post and social media with more information as it becomes available. If you register your availability, you will receive direct updates via email.
Please pray for those in Debby’s path and those who will respond. If you would like to give to support the response, click “Donate” above and choose “Active Disaster Response (Storm Recovery-Debby)” from the dropdown menu.
