Impact Mission Camps – Time to Thrive!

The Impact truck is parked at Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia as the third week of Impact Mission Camp begins. Middle and high school students are working together with adult leaders and crew chiefs to complete seven construction projects in Roanoke that include painting, building ramps, and one porch replacement. Students will be working with their crews during the day and then back at Melrose Baptist Church in the evenings for worship and free time.

This week in Roanoke will finish out the Impact Mission Camp 2024 season, and we are already praising God for the ways in which students were able to grow in faith, learn new skills, and make a positive impact for homeowners and community members. The first week of Impact Mission Camp was in Mecklenburg. One hundred and fifty participants were housed at First Baptist Church in South Hill and completed ten projects. The second week of Impact Mission Camp was in Danville. Fifty participants were housed at Hargrave Military Academy, and crews completed four projects.

The theme for camp this summer is Time to Thrive, and our Bible verse is Mark 10:27: “Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” In worship and through their daily devotionals, students are learning about the freedom that we find in Christ to not just survive in life, but to thrive. One way that we thrive in Christ is to be a part of the Body of Christ. Time at camp is a way for students to practice being in community. Working together in a crew, developing relationships with homeowners, sitting around a table for a meal, and worshipping together are all ways in which students and leaders thrive in community during their week at an Impact Mission Camp. Our prayer is that they will take the experience of living, working, and worshipping with the Body of Christ home with them to their own communities. We want participants to be excited to live out their faith and live missionally in the places where God has planted them.

This year, we will continue the theme of Time to Thrive for our youth fall retreat at Eagle Eyrie. Churches are invited to bring middle and high school youth for a weekend of breakouts, worship, and fun recreation October 11-13, 2024. You can register here through Eagle Eyrie.
