Disaster Response Update on Nepal Earthquake

originally posted April 25, 2015

A magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck near Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, on Saturday morning, killing over 1,300 people with the death toll certain to rise over the next hours and days.

Everyone should take a moment today and pray for the families of those who have been affected by this tragedy. This will be a long process of recovery and rebuilding that take years of hard work.

Virginia Baptist Disaster Response leaders have already engaged several partner organizations to determine the best course of response. More information about ways to respond will be available over the next few days.

Looking for a way for your church to respond? As in most disasters of this nature, prayers and financial contributions are the best course of action.
